Met Gala 2025: Celebrating Black Style Through Tailoring
Taking place today, May 5, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the 2025 Met Gala is themed "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style." This year’s gala honors Black dandyism and explores the cultural role of fashion in expressing Black identity across the African diaspora. The Costume Institute’s corresponding exhibit—drawing inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion—is divided into 12 sections, including themes like “Ownership,” “Freedom,” and “Beauty,” and showcases powerful works by artists such as Tyler Mitchell and Torkwase Dyson.

Theme & Dress Code
The official dress code, “Tailored for You,” invites guests to showcase personal interpretations of the theme through custom, sharply tailored outfits. This marks the Met’s first exhibition focused exclusively on menswear since 2003’s “Men in Skirts,” underlining the museum's growing commitment to diversity and inclusivity in fashion curation.
Co-Chairs & Event Hosts
This year’s Met Gala is led by a star-studded panel of co-chairs: acclaimed actor Colman Domingo, F1 legend Lewis Hamilton, music icon Pharrell Williams, rapper A$AP Rocky, and Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. Basketball superstar LeBron James serves as the event's honorary chair.
